Willie Morris, Yazoo: Integration in a Deep-Southern Town. Harper's Magazine Press, 1971. Stated First Edition Signed Hardcover Book in Dust Jacket. Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 75-1444184.

Signed, dated, and inscribed by the author on the inside orange pastedown 5/14/71 Greenville. To David Howell--Best Wishes, Willie Morris. Book is in very good condition. Owner's small book plate (less than 1" x 2") on back inside paste down.

Tan book boards very good, corners fine. Spine tight, orange lettering on spine fine. Text block very good, very minimal foxing/yellowing/spotting to top of text block due to age (nearly 54 years old). Dust jacket in good condition, some bumping to top of spine edge. Small closed tear (1/4) at top back of jacket, with one other spot of bending.

Very minor closed tear at bottom front of jacket. Pictures included are of the actual book being offered for sale. NOTE: Greenville, the town where the book was signed, is another small Southern Delta town, 70 miles from Yazoo City, which was also undergoing integration during this time. David Howell, to whom the book was inscribed, was the librarian at Delta State University, and was an avid book collector. Overall, a beautiful book about an almost overwhelming time in Mississippi and America, recounted very personally by a Southerner who wrote of the "anguish and cruelty and inhumanity" but also of courage and warmth and...

Nobility of the events that happened when the Brown vs. Board of Education decision went into effect.

A piece of authentic American and Southern history.
