"32 Gems" - that is, chromolithographic cards - "Presented to every subscriber to The People's Illustrated Fireside Magazine". Cards: Thirty-two different heavy paper cards, each 6.8 in. White border and color image to center. Age-toning and an occasional spot to cards. Casing: 7.25 in x 4.75 in.

Cloth boards with silver, gold, black and beige floral frame design and title to front; magazine's name to spine. Rubbing to edges, with chips to top and bottom of spine. Interior of bookcase has a raised rigid fore-edge to hold the cards in place.

The subscriber's premium set of 32 richly colored cards. Cards vary in theme: religious, humourous, patriotic, sentimental, cute, romantic... And each card has a caption. Note: Two cards are expressly and horribly racist (and often missing from other sets).
