I have here for sale a True First Edition of PEARSON MAGAZINE VOLUME I (Jan - Jun) 1896. Nicely bound in the original linen boards. Pearson's Magazine was a monthly periodical that first appeared in Britain in 1896. A US version began publication in 1899.

It specialised in speculative literature, political discussion, often of a socialist bent, and the arts. Its contributors included Bertram Fletcher Robinson, Upton Sinclair, George Bernard Shaw, Maxim Gorky, George Griffith, H. Wells, Rudyard Kipling, Rafael Sabatini, Dornford Yates and E.

Phillips Oppenheim, many of whose short stories and novelettes first saw publication in Pearson's. Alongside many works of fiction, there is an eclectic selection of narrative: The Fresh Air Fund, How London's Gas is Made, Rudyard Kipling in India, Penal Servitude, The Soldiers of Khedive, et al. A fascinating volume as well as a very collectable one! Attractively bound in original linen boards. With floral embossed decoration (gilt and colour), plus title lettering on the front board and the spine.

A little age soiling to the boards, spine ends and board corners are bumped. Light scattered foxing but majority of the pages are clean and bright. This book is in very good condition, it is tightly bound with no loose or missing pages 708pp.
