Johnny Mnemonic William Gibson First Edition with Omni Magazine 1st Appearance

  
Up for sale is a scarce set of Johnny Mnemonic items. A fine first UK edition of the screenplay written by William GIbson in the jacket in as new condition. Also included is a copy of Omni Magazine from May 1981 featuring the original short story with a very unique illustrated page.

The film premiered in 1995. The final cut was quite different from the one imagined and shot. Keanu Reeves had previously starred in Speed and the success of that film led to Johnny Mnemonic being re cut and formed into an action film instead of the psychological cyberpunk thriller as intended by the director and author. The film was released with in different formats twice, once in the UK with deleted scenes inlucded and more recently in black and white as the director originally intended. The film and story pre date The Matrix which also starred Keanu Reeves and was based on earlier cyberpunk stories by Gibson.
