A loaded issue besides, with Carroll John Daly's Race Williams novelette The Silver Eagle, Erle Stanley Gardner's Ed Jenkins novelette Straight From the Shoulder, Horace McCoy's story "Hell's Stepsons, " and Raoul Whitfield's "Sal the Dude, " with additional contributions by C. Montayne, Tom Curry, Hartley H. Higher grade copies of all five parts of Maltese Falcon have become increasingly uncommon. Layman C109; Hagemann 626, 974, 1114, 1494, 2421. Quarto (25cm); original pictorial pulp wrappers; 144pp; illus. Light wear to extremities, some trivial dust-soil to wrappers, a few tiny tears to the yapped edges, with a few small nicks and closed tears to spine, costing most of the printed date; still a bright, tight, and straight copy, unrepaired, with the pages still creamy and supple, and the cover unmarred; Very Good+.
