ORIGINAL 1842 Vol 20 Graham's Magazine Edgar Allen Poe 1. Printing of The Masque of the Red Death, Etc. This rare volume of "Graham's Ladies & Gentlemen's Magazine, " was published in Philadelphia in 1842. This is Volume XX in the magazine's history, and covers from January - June 1842. This contains important first printings of several of the most famous works of Edgar Allen Poe.

These include " The Mask of the Red Death: A Fantasy " Later " The Masque of the Red Death, " and " Life in Death " Later The Oval Portrait. This is a complete list of the Poe contributions in this volume. A Essay entitled "Harpers Ferry" (page 73) which he has been later listed as a collaborator on.

Letter from Dickens page 83. "A few Words About Brainard" 119-121. The Poem "To One Departed" page 137.

The short Story Life in Death. "The Mask of Red Death: A Fantasy" 257-259 and then reviews 298-300 and 354-356. This looks to be the original binding from 1842. The Book will need some repair, as the front board is now weakly attached. Covers are scuffed and leather worn, particularly at the spine. Varying degrees of foxing/dampstaining evident throughout. Photos # 6 & 7. This book also includes the rare engraving and article about the "Wire Suspension Bridge" over the Schuylkill River.

This was the longest bridge of it's kind in the world, back in 1842. This would make a wonderful addition to any Poe collection. Please get in touch with any questions.
