For ten years - from 1984 until 1995 - Helmut Newton published his best photographs in his own magazine, Helmut Newton's Illustrated. During this period, four editions appeared: No. 1, "Sex and Power, " No.

2, "Pictured from an Exhibition, " No. 3, "I was there" and No.

Their titles were as suggestive as they were thematic, and all issues quickly became sought-after collector's items. With their provocative mixture of nudes, journalistic photos, and sensationalist portraits, these four editions of Helmut Newton's Illustrated are considered to be among the most powerful visual documents of the 80's and 90's. This set consist of all four original issues. Issue Nº1 - Sex and Power (1987). Issue Nº2 - Pictures from an Exhibition (1987). Issue Nº3 - I Was There (1991). New York: Xavier Moreau Inc. First Edition (January 1, 1987) ISSN 0891 9577. 3 contains a black & white photo of a billboard on Sunset Ave warning that cocaine use can kill, and in the background is the Chateau Marmont sign, the hotel where Helmut often stayed and where he passed away in January 2004 as he was leaving the parking garage. There was no mention of drugs at the time, as it was likely a heart attack, but it was a quintessential Hollywood ending to an illustrious career.

Helmut was as much a rock star as those he photographed. 12"W × 0.25"D × 15. The issues are in excellent condition with no stains or tears or notable damage. There is some visible minor wear on Issue No.

1 graded VF/NM 9, and very little wear or imperfections noted on Issues 2, 3, 4 which are NM- 9.2 to NM 9.4.
