Little Folks: A Magazine for Young People. A very scarce 1899 volume of Edwardian children's periodical'Little Folks'. An Important Work, Colour Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce. This book weighs 1 KG when packed. The very scarce first edition of this work, containing the issues of the magazine published between January and June 1899.

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, five further colour plates by various artists, and a number of vignette illustrations, many of which are also by Rackham including the colour frontispiece entitled'Up a Tree'. The issues in this volume contain a charming selection of short stories, poems, music and puzzles, as well as informative pieces on subjects such as wildlife and creative activities.

Present are pieces including'Little Miss Muffet','Shooting-Stars','Wellington's First Encounter with the French', and'The Blue Well'. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with light fraying of cloth in these regions.

Discolouration to back strip, with front board remaining bright. Tail of front hinge strained, but firmly held.

Bookseller's stamp to front pastedown. Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy.

Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones. Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy. Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under'condition.

Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair. As with good only above but with other faults. Leaving a compromised copy even after repair.
