Three volumes from'The English Illustrated Magazine', the first edition. Comprised of the volumes for 1883-4; 1885-6; and 1886-7. In the original publisher's uniform cloth bindings. Notable contributions to these volumes include Henry James, Joseph Hatton, L Leslie Brooke, and Gilbert Parker among others.With frontispiece to each volume and numerous black and white illustrations by the like of Hugh Thomson, Edmund J Sullivan, Harry Dixon, &c. Bound without frontispiece to face p 3 vol 1883-4.
The English Illustrated Magazine' was a monthly publication that ran between 1883 and 1913. Features included travel, topography, and a large amount of fiction by notable authors accompanied with illustrations by well-known artists. In the original publisher's uniform decorative cloth bindings. Externally with light bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Damp marking affecting boards vol 1886, not affecting internals. Hinges slightly strained, holding firm. Light spotting scattered to leaves.Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy. Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones. Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy.
Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under'condition. Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair.
