This first edition publication includes illustrations by the renowned political artist Thomas Nast at the height of his power and influence as he pursued and defeated William'Boss' Tweed and his ring of corrupt New York City Tammany Hall politicians. The volume's 1216 pages covers a variety of topics, including the devastating Chicago fire and the deadly Franco-Prussian war.
