The American Builder magazine was designed to provide information to builders about technique, trends and other pertinent articles for the home builder. Nicely illustrated with elevation illustrations of various buildings and often, complete sets of plans for homes, decorations and so forth by various prominent or up-and-coming architects of the Chicago area. This particular bound volume contains the issues from July, 1871-June 1872, the fourth year of its publication.

Interesting article in response to the Great Chicago Fire. It has five large fold-out plans printed on pattern tissue, `and many illustrations of Churches and homes. Nicely re-bound by Daniel Kelm in dark brown cloth with leather spine label and new endpapers. Some chipping to the page edges, minor tearing near spine on some pages.
