Volume is attractive with its old marbled boards and leather spine but it does show its age - loose hinges, binding worn, book holds together but there are spine cracks and a few pages are stained - the worst of the condition matters are illustrated in the photos above, about half of the engravings are missing including all the natural history ones. So, far from perfect but still intriguing and packed with history and the bookplate is of Edward Fiott who was a Captain in the East India Company in the 1700s.
